FRUIT AT SCHOOL ITALIAN NATIONAL PROJECT

Hello you all, we are back to FRUIT FAN CLUB with other new experiences.
Since the beginning of this school year, our school has been collaborating with Sonia's spanish school and Raquel's London school in a new Comenius project about healthy life and some of our activities are closely connected to a healthy eating style. Moreover our school has been taking part in a national project to promote the consumpion of fresh fruit and vegetable with children.

COMENIUS PROJECT DETAILS

We start a new project in our school. It´s a health project which is really ambitious because this topic is related to all the areas in the curriculum.
We want to spread it over the years and in a similar way, work  with new topics. All of them related to health.
This format would include, year after year, three sections:
PERSONAL HEALTH ( it includes nutrition, balanced diet, oral and personal hygiene, hygiene at school, water as a source of health, physical exercise,  responsible use of things, emotional control…)
SOCIAL HEALTH (It includes co-education, peace and non violence, intercultural education, road safety, rules and habits ...)
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH (It includes recycling, care and protection of the environment, leisure, environmental protection projects, ecology and consumption ...)
Education is achieved not only in school but is present throughout our lives developing skills and knowledge that are needed. It allows children to reach success in a world of fast changes and full of challenges and opportunities.
In that moment we must work together.
The introduction of cross-and interdisciplinary approaches encourages the integral  approach to education

- Improving the school environment
- the strengthening of democratic principles
- The inclusion of parents and local community

Here are some examples of activities we would develop:

HEALTH IN LA LUZ” (Slogan and logo search)

  PERSONAL HEALTH  (Activities)
We started putting the logo in a big wall chart. The same day, families will receive by the students a guide with instructions for the breakfast, lunch and it bundle. A blog or a section in the website will be created.
On the same date, a set of activities and materials for the classroom will be posted on the blog:

-To know the nutritional properties of different foods and nutrients they provide, dairy, fats, carbohydrates ...

-Make wheels or food pyramids

-Put  pictures  about the  process of a product (bread, milk, honey ...) in the correct place

-Know  the ingredients to make cake, muffins, fruit salad ...
- Know the fruits of each season and make wallcharts
- Create  poems related to the topic
- Fruit-Riddles
- Posters with the slogan of breakfast and snack
- Seasons.  To see dietary changes according to seasons
- Breakfast in the past: find out what our ancestors ate breakfast.
- Breakfast of the future: create a diet based on healthy eating.
- Storytelling in the library
- Tale  “ The very hungry caterpillar” by English teachers.
- TV programmes
- Didactic  units : breakfast, sweets…
- The magic box of fruit
- Wallcharts
- Collages
- Use websites
- Crafts with Nuts
- Make magnet-shaped food dough
- Decorative glass jars for fruit salad (glass decoration ...)
- Make a fruit salad and carry jar at home.

-From "Food and Art" from Arcimboldo's work   we will  carry out similar works.

-We will work in the classroom recording what the student brings as lunch
 The materials prepared in the classroom will be collected and uploaded to the web.
If we can we´ll made photos or video.

- To close the season,  everybody participate in a a gynkana  that will be organized by PE teachers.

 European Week campaign to reduce waste Cogersa is the week of 22 to 29 November, we  would make a record in the classroom for a week. observing the type of waste that we generate at break.

- Activities of men and women from different parts of the world that we use as a preamble to Christmas and Carnival celebration.
- Read "Tales of the World " (classrooms and Library)
- Exhibition in the school library of  books from different countries.
 - Listenings about Music of the world (Music class).
 - Dance different world dances.
-Celebrating Christmas in the world,  ("workshops in which different figures: Santa Claus, La Befana,  the 3 Wise Men…. carry out the activities.

My head master has propposed to make of the health project a Comenius using the food part we are working in etwinning and adding the social health and environmental issues. We have already finished the project, we just need partners. My headmaster has already coordinated a 3 years Comenius project, so she is very experienced. Would you be interested??? I'm translating the project into English and I will upload it in etwinning so you can have all the information. But please, meanwhile think about it!!

funny fruit characters

Primary school Baveno second grade.

We made funny characters using different fruits. At the end all the fruits have been transformed into a big varied fruit salad and we ate it in class. Delicious!!!
